Week One: August 5 to 11, 2025 with Dr. Brian Whiting
Unit 1: Equipment Usage, Survey Basics, Intro to Processing and Interpretation
1. Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) basics and survey design, drone photogrammetry introduction
2. Field GPR survey
3. Demonstrate processing and interpretation
4. Review survey results and propose an excavation programme
Week Two: August 12 to 15, 2025 – With Dr. Matthew Reilly
- Using geophysical data to ground-truth potential archaeological features
- Laying out systematic excavation units
- Carefully excavating identified stratigraphic layers according to cultural depositions
- Sifting soils and identifying archaeological artifacts
- Recording excavation information and systematically documenting the context of archaeological finds
- Recording and drawing profiles of excavation units and associated features
- Gathering and collecting material culture with archaeological provenience
Post In Person Field School – 2 weeks virtual
Unit 2: Refining survey design and processing
Unit 3: Further Processing, Interpretation and Presentation
All necessary equipment will be provided by the CRRP
Lunch and liquid refreshments will be provided for participants
